Loved this one. Super frightening while also very funny - especially the opening joke "Researchers in Australia"...

The one thing I've started to count on with your Substack, is no matter how bad the news in the 'real' world—like this (https://twitter.com/c_m_dangelo/status/1684541908360495105?s=20) about corals around FL skipping the bleaching phase and going straight to being dead due to the extreme water temperatures, which we can thank our oil and gas industry for causing as a result of the heat-trapping blanket of pollution they're spewing for short-term profits—I can read about an even more horrific dystopian potential for our future in your updates.

But, given the planet's climate crisis is ratcheting up in unpredicted ways, since even the best climate models can't account for feedback loops, cascading amplification, or the countless inter-related effects of multiple complex systems, maybe I should read this as a silver lining?

Perhaps, fusing our brain cells into AI is the only way 'humanity' survives the escalating deluge of fire, droughts (famine!), and flooding we've precipitated through our greed and indifference.

Happy Friday...
