I'm eager to hear what you come up with in the name game. I've personally never thought of you as cranky or old, so . . . from chatGPT, Snarky Bytes: Politics & AI Unleashed. Or, keep it simple with The Real Dan Tynan.
Right on, Dan T! I'll read ya as your writing makes me laugh out loud. I am rather fond, though, of Cranky Old Man....etc. Not that you are old but working in tech we age in dog years. Your crankiness helps me cut through the bullshit of my day. Keep on truckin' and I will follow.
As you look at options, can you let me know where you go?
Here's what another (prior) Substacker shared, in case helpful for you and others:
"Ghost is the more advanced, tech-savvy alternative. I like it because it lets me be more independent and I have more control over the tech and visual look. However, for those who are looking for something more comparable to Substack, a lot of people are shifting to Beehive (my 2nd favorite) and Buttondown. The journalist who started the joint letter to Substack has been helping to facilitate learning sessions for people. Each has its pluses and minuses. I love Beehive's look, it's easy to use, and they are working on new features as they grow."
yes. Platformer went to Ghost, a bunch of others went to Beehiiv. That's where I'll be looking first. as long as I don't actually have to exhaust any brain cells thinking about any of this, I'll be good.
Jonathan Katz's The Racket has a pretty detailed record of all the sniping that's gone on. He and Matt Taibbi have been hurling dirt clods at each other.
Russell Nohelty's 12-27-23 sites evaluation is posted on Cavan Scott's 12-28-23 Substack. Nohelty seems to have since deleted his post from his Substack but his post remains on Scott's Substack.
Cavan Scott said 12-27 that Ghost is expensive, so he considered using his own site. He chose Ghost anyway. Why not stay and wait for the owners to resolve their public relations catastrophe by selling the whole shebang?

In your case, I think stronger corrective lenses may be required. But... thank you.
Who is the Real Dan Tynan? I sometimes wonder that myself.
That's what we're all hoping to find out!
The horror, the horror.

I’m sticking with you wherever you go, and I applaud your decision to get away from these creeps

Hey Dan! I too will be jumping ship.
As you look at options, can you let me know where you go?

I've been looking at alternatives as well, but pissed that I have to. Check out Ghost and Beehiiv, I'm reading good things about both.

"Dan Tynan's Quirky Qwerty: Tech with Added Value. (The Intersectionality of It All!)"
Au contraire, I would like to know the details of the internal politics.

Russell Nohelty is staying but would advise you on options.
